Beginning My Summer Learning Journing

Week One : In The Beginning

Activity 1: The First Settlers

Maui is a famous man in Maori Mythology. Also he is a demigod. Here are 3 facts about Maui

  1. Maui has lots of mean brothers and they do not support Maui.
  2. Maui is from Moana. Maui goes with Moana to take back the heart of Te Fiti. Te Fiti is a girl island and she gets her heart stolen so then Moana and Maui take it back.
  3. Maui pulled a big fish out of the ocean and his brothers thought that they would be the best fisher men in the world

  2. Hi Tweeny,

I'm Jade C and I will be reading and commenting on your blog this summer.

Today is the official start day of the Summer learning journey programme! It's super great to see your first S.L.J blog post!

First of all, I really like how you linked Maui and your own memories of the Maui Movie. I have also watched the movie with my whole family and we all loved the movie! Isn't it amazing how you can learn a lot of new information and knowledge just by watching a fun movie?

I also like the way you described Maui's brothers as 'mean', I assume that he needs a sister like you to support him! Don't you think so? I have one little sister. She is really kind and very supportive, but she can be quite annoying sometimes... How about you? Do you have any brothers or sisters?

I am looking forward to reading and commenting your next blog post! :)

    All the best!

    Jade C.

  3. Morena Tweeny,

I’m Dani, a member of the Summer Learning Journey team. I normally comment on blogs in the Kaikohekohe cluster ( Northland) but I have been lucky enough to get the chance to visit some blogs in the Uru Manuka cluster!

It’s great to see that you have posted the first activity. Did you do it in class? Maui is unlucky that he has unsupportive brothers. I’m very lucky that my sister and brother can be very supportive, even if that means them yelling at me from the side of the hockey field! Do you have any siblings? What kinds of ways you do support them?

If you wanted to complete more of the Summer Learning Journey activities you can copy and paste this link into your search bar.

You can complete as many activities as you like, in whatever order you
    like!

I look forward to reading some of your work soon!

    -Dani
