Respect In Room 5!

When we were doing the Summer Learning Journey posters, We found out about this thing called 'Biteable'. It is really fun and easy to use! It is a website where you can create animated presentations. All you have to do is choose your theme and write your words down. You can even preview your video to see what you have done! We used this website for this activity. There has been a lot of people who haven't been respectful so We had to make a presentation using Biteable about Respect and how we can show it everyday. This will help us realise that being respectful is a good thing and that we need to be kinder to each other so here is mine:

Hope you like it and Have a Great Day!

The Game

In class, we read a book called 'The Game'. After we read it, we had to choose if we wanted to make our own controller or make instructions for 'Snakes & Ladders'. I chose to make my own controller. We had to add labels showing what the buttons are used for and what they can do. We could either make our own or use the ones like PS4 or XBox but make different buttons for it. I made one up. I hope you like it!

Do You Want To Join Us?

Yesterday, we had to make posters for Market Day.
My poster is for the Briquettes. The reason we did this was because we have a Market day coming up.
Market Day is when your class makes something to sell and sells it. For real MONEY!
The posters are for the other classes to see what we are selling.
All the money that the classes get will be for their class to have a TREAT DAY!
This day will be on Friday 6th December. It will be from 2.pm - 4.pm.
My group was making posters for Briquettes. This poster is 1 out of many more posters so don't forget
to check the other blogs as well!
My class will have:
Waffles with chocolate syrup and ice cream
A Pie Face Game
A Wet Sponge Throw
Spiders (The drink, not the arachnid)
There will also be a Mufti Day so we get to dress up in whatever we WANT!
There will be Christmas Carols at Dressmart as well.
We are gonna sing lots of Christmas songs so If you want to come then come.
I hope you join us on this wonderful day and buy some goodies because you deserve it!

Also here is my Poster

Becoming an Illustrator

In class, we learnt about Gus Hunter. Gus Hunter is an illustrator. He draws pictures to match stories. So after we learnt about him, the article gave us some of Gus' Tips. Using those tips, we had to create an illustration of one of the stories we wrote. I did an illustration on my story Hello? I'll give you 2 of the tips in the book.

- Visualise what you want to draw
- Draw what you see, not what you think you see.

I hope you like my drawing!

P.S I'm sorry if you can't really see. I took this picture on my computer

Don't Kill The Animals

Today In class, we had to make a trap that would capture animals without killing them. This was a tricky task but I found the ultimate answer! This is a fool - proof idea. I thought that if we use a net it will be much easier to catch them because they might hear the gunshots and run away.

I hope you like it!

Last Activity

This is the final activity. I had to create a 'Super Beetle' and add different things to it to make it unique.
It could be like your dream beetle but whatever you add to it, it had to be useful. This is mine. I might call it... BUGGY the Super Beetle!

What about the beetles?

This is another one of my three activities that I am doing for the week. This is a paragraph about the three main groups of the Dung Beetles. It is really awesome that you can learn so much from just a video!

The Dung Beetles are the reason we don’t live in poo everyday. Once an animal poops, dung beetles locate the dung and take it away for themselves. But because there are so many beetles, that beetle will have to take it as fast as he can. There are three main groups of dung beetles. Rollers, Tunnelers and Dwellers. Rollers are dung beetles that sculpt a ball of dung and use their back legs to roll it away from the other competitors. Once the male has selected its mate, the two beetles will dig a hole in the ground and the female will lay its eggs in the dung. Tunnelers dig holes under the dung and collect it from dung from underneath. Dwellers take the most efficient way by laying their eggs in the dung and when they hatch, the larvae feed on it, leaving the scraps that are completely surrounded by bacteria and fungi and wither away.

Dung Beetles!

In class, Mrs Lee sent us a link to a site about dung beetles. There was information (videos and a passage) and activities. We had to choose 3 activities to do and post them on our blog. We got to choose if we wanted to post all three of them all at once or post them separately and I will be posting them all separately. This is a poster of 'How Dung Beetles Move Their Dung'. I hope you learn something from this.

Hello?

WALT write a story about what ever you want

A writing time today, we had to write a story about what ever we wanted. There's not much to explain. Just that we did free writing. My story is called "Hello?"

Hope you enjoy!

Me and my friends were just walking around a park and I saw a dirty house. It was dirty and crusty with cobwebs and broken windows. I told my friends I had to go to the toilet and they said okay. I headed straight to the dirty house. I was so scared that I couldn’t breathe. I tried to push myself to go in there but I just couldn’t. As soon as I started to walk away, I heard a loud BANG! I turned around and put a serious face on and went inside.

The door closed behind me. There was two stairways. There were a lot of spiders and cobwebs. There were three bookshelves too. One upstairs and two near the door I came in from. It was very creepy and brisk. I went upstairs and looked at the bookshelf and saw something coming from underneath. I touched it and it looked like BLOOD.

I was so freaked out I ran down the stairs screaming. I tried to open the door but it was locked somehow. I tried to break it open. I grabbed a chair and threw it at the door. It didn’t break. Then I heard someone. “Hello?”. I turned around. “Is someone here?”. It sounded like a man. I tiptoed and tried not to make any sound. Then he came.

A tall figure stood in front of me. His blood dripped from his legs and arms. “GET OUT OF MY HOUSE” He screamed. I ran to the door and tried to open it every way possible. He ran to the door. Finally, the door opened. He nearly got me but I ran out of the house and slammed the door shut. I ran back to the park.

My friends were still there. “Why did you take so long” One of my friends said. “Did you have diarrhea or something”. I laughed. Me and my friends started walking home. Then I screamed. I saw him there. The man. He just stood there. With this nasty look on his face. “ What’s wrong?” My friend said. “Nothing” I said shaking.  Luckily, my friends didn’t notice the house. I promised myself to Never. Go. There. Again.

The Efficient Way!

At reading time, we had to create a more efficient way for Sir Edmund to get his building tools ,that he uses for building the school and the hospital, up on to the Himalayan Mountains. But it had to be doable. It can't be planes or helicopters etc. It had to be modern technology. I decided to do a elevator (not a real one). I think I did pretty well. My idea was clear in my head but I wasn't really sure how to create it. But I'm really happy with the results!

Can you think of anything more efficient? If you can, let me know!

Can you think of a Sentence?

In class, we are learning about descriptive writing. Mrs Lee gave us a slideshow full of pictures. We had to come up with a sentence that would describe it best. E.g as I stepped outside, my eyes were filled with the sun that glistened. The next day, we had to come up with sentences like similes, idioms, alliteration etc. I really enjoy writing so this activity was great! ( This is not finished but don't expect anything more from this slideshow.)

So what about you? Can you make up a sentence? Good luck!

The Big Jump

In class, we had to rewrite the story in our own words. My group's story was "The Big Jump". I found this kind of hard because I did want to change the story a bit but I couldn't. This story is about a boy named Big Daddy (Funny right?) and he is afraid of the flying fox.

Have you ever been on a flying fox before? If you have, let me know

The chills that ran down my spine as I attempted to go down the flying fox. I was sick to my stomach. I couldn't DARE go down this flying fox. "I don't have a death wish" I said to myself. But then Tim came up to the platform and tried to talk me into it but I couldn't. What if I fell? What if I get stuck? I didn't l know what to do because I was so scared. But then he told Sandra, the instructor, to do a tandem. He put a harness on and rode down with me. I nearly wet myself because we were going SO FAST. Once we got to the bottom, We hit a few tyres. It really hurt but I think it hurt more for Tim. Tim was barely breathing and crying. "What happened" Everyone was asking. " I had to help Tim, he was to scared, he nearly wet himself. I didn't want to make myself seem less tough. I'm glad Tim helped me from that horrific trip to the ground.

Stay Awesome, Possums!

I Love Me!

This term, we are learning about Taonga. Taonga means treasure or something that is very important to you. This task is all about culture.  I am Cook Island and Tongan. we had to talk about family tradition, traditional food and old stories etc. As I made this presentation, I realised how much my culture means to me and how I love my family. I think I did pretty good.

What I found hard: finding information to add in to it.
What I found easy: using colours that attract the eye
What I could improve on: adding more pictures.

Goodbye!

So how about you? Have you weaved before? If you have, let me know!

Being A Zookeeper

In class, we had to make a Information Web about the topic of our book. My group (Matilda) was reading 'Zookeeper For A Day'.

An Information Web is information that is built up to be the shape of a web. You have the name of the book in the middle and then the categories, and then the info.

I hope you learnt something from this.

Enjoy!

My Taonga!

In class, we had to make a poster showing our Taonga. A Taonga is something you love more than anything. This is my one. I have my Culture, Blankets and my Family. I chose my family because they are very special to me. My culture is very special to me as well.

I had a blanket that I had every since I was born. I loved it. I loved the way it felt and it made me feel happy. Sometimes when I was at school, I wished I had it with me but I couldn't. I never put it down and when it was in the wash I would ask "When is it done?". Recently, I grew out of it and it is now in the dump.

So how about you? Did you have a toy or thing that is your Taonga?
If you did, let me know!

Enjoy!

Seeing in The Cosmos!

In class, we read a book called "See You in the Cosmos". Everyone had a D.L.O about it but i just didn't get to it yet.

11 year old Alex is a boy who loves Astronomy and has so many questions on life like:

"where's Dad?"
"How do i launch my i-pod?"

But most importantly:

"How do I be brave?"

Alex struggles to understand how to do things sometimes. While my teacher read this book to us, I really enjoyed it. The book was very heart-warming and I loved it.

To be honest, the book is way better when my teacher reads it. She just reads it like it is actually happening. Overall, It was a great book to read. Maybe you should read it.

See you in Term 4! (See what I did there. No.)

The Water Cycle!

At reading time in my class, I had to create an infographic on the process of the....Water Cycle!
I think I did a good job. I loved making the picture the most!

An infographic is like a poster but it has much more information and it doesn't advertise anything.

I hope you get something out of this. And remember... Tumeke koe!

How do Waterspouts form?

In Room 5, we had to create a Infographic on our reading texts. My group's story was How Waterspouts form. My Infographic will tell you about it.

An infographic is diagrams and pictures, information on the topic and a catchy title!

I think I did pretty well but I think I need to add more information and diagrams. I hope you get something out of this, though.

Enjoy!

All About Me 2019

WALT use Google Drawings to create a drawing about me.
We were asked to create a Google Drawing about what we loved.
Those things were:
  • Favorite food
  • Favorite animal
  • what country would you like to visit
In the top right corner I was trying to create spicy rice cakes (in Korean teokbokki) but it looks like coconut shreds in a eggshell. Maybe I could make the rice cake a different color.
